Press Release
Tipp Hill Music Fest Turns Five in September!
Tipp Hill Music Fest organizers Ed Zacholl, Mike Lounsbery and Joe Henson are happy
to announce that the 5th annual event will take place on Saturday, September 24th. In
addition to some great music, crafts and food, once again music lesson scholarships will
be awarded to aspiring musicians with a tie to the neighborhood.
- Date - Saturday, September 24th, 2011
- Time - 12 Noon to 7PM
- Location - Pass Arboretum (Across from the Avery/Salisbury/Whittier Ave/Burnet
Park entrance). Rain backup location – Burnet Park Ice Rink Pavilion.
- What is it? - The Tipperary Hill Music Festival is a celebration of our
neighborhood’s rich and diverse musical heritage. It is a free one day festival for
all ages, a not for profit endeavor that benefits the community. An estimated 3,000
people attended last years event, soaking up the great weather in this beautiful city
park, enjoying the local food and craft vendors and the unmistakable vibe created by
great music played in a beautiful outdoor setting.
- The Music - The music will, of course pay homage to the Irish roots of the
Tipperary Hill Neighborhood, but will also be diverse like the neighborhood is today,
and will include over 15 acts on five stages. This year’s line-up includes
The Super Delinquents, The DeSantis Orchestra, White Picket Fence, Blue Sky Mission
Club, Donna Colton & the Troublemakers, The Causeway Giants, Boots & Shorts, Same Blood
Folk Band, Nate & Kate, Frenay & Lenin, Sirsy, The Mere Mortals, The Tipp Hillbillies,
The Z-Bones, The Tom Dooley Choraliers and others!
- What else? There will be local food and craft vendors, including music
instruction and hand-made instrument sales, many children’s activities including a
kids craft area and a “Learn How to Plant a Tree” activity.
- The big addition last year was the release of “My Heart’s Right There”,
a compilation CD of songs written about the historic Tipperary Hill neighborhood.
Featured artists included Maureen Henesey, Dennis Heaphy, Joanne Perry and The Tom
Dooley Choraliers. The CD is still available and will be sold at the event.
All proceeds benefit the festival.
- We are still looking for sponsors, vendors, volunteers and music scholarship candidates!
The stage schedules will be announced soon - for additional information and updates, check
the festival website, www.tipphillmusicfest.org,
or call 299-4415.
